Debt Relief Usa

Being sued for going through a credit relief program?

My friend has a credit card that she is behind on paying because the company wouldn’t work with her when she lost her job. She is going through a Debt Relief service to make monthly payments on her card. The credit card company is now suing her. If she is making payments through the debt relief service, can they still legally sue her, and what can she do to get the lawsuit dropped?

This is in Wisconsin, USA.

And this is exactly what happens when folks go to debt settlement companies. Your friend has been making payments which have all gone to the settlement company, not a cent has gone to a creditor.

The credit card company was probably notified of the debt settlement company and immediately sued. That’s pretty much what most credit card companies do in response.

Your friend should stop paying the settlement company and try and get her money refunded. The credit card company is going to win a judgment.
